Mischievous and popular Essay
Puck also known as Robin Good Fellow plays an extremely entertaining part in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"a midsummerââ¬â¢s night dreamâ⬠. He is no ordinary character; he enjoys playing practical jokes on mortals. Oberon the King of fairies (also his master), seems to admire Puck because Puck keeps Oberon amused with his antics. In this essay, I will be focusing on Pucks character and how he is amusing, mischievous and popular. The following extract from a midsummerââ¬â¢s night dream is particularly appropriate because it describes how amusing Puck finds the events that proceed during the play. It also gives you an idea of what the events are. ââ¬Å"And those things do best please me that befall preposterouslyâ⬠. During the play puck finds the events that take place astonishingly humorous. It shows that he finds the incident comical because in the text it quotes ââ¬Å"those things do best please meâ⬠. Another example is that he finds the matter ridiculous, ludicrous and absurd. ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ that befall preposterouslyâ⬠. In addition Shakespeare portrays Puck as a mischievous spirit, ââ¬Å"Mislead night wanderers laughing at their harmâ⬠. This suggests that Puck is childish yet naive. I think Puck has a limited understanding of the consequences of his jesters. This quote also indicates that Puck is not vile but in turn immature. ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ laughing at their harmâ⬠. When mortals are in danger, instead of helping them, he will make the situation direr. He is innocent minded. ââ¬Å"Mislead night wanderersâ⬠¦ ââ¬Å". Furthermore, although Puck is a servant of King Oberon, he is popular due to his cunningness and wit. This is shown in the text. ââ¬Å"Or else you are that shrewd and knavish spirit called Robin Good Fellowâ⬠. This implies that Puck is enormously popular that he has his own nickname. Fairies have heard of him even though he doesnââ¬â¢t know them. His quality is so vibrant. In the quote, Puck is identified as shrewd because puck is crafty, astute and wise. He is also acknowledged as knavish, in other words an unprincipled servant. From the play we can tell that Puck is a mystical being. This should be represented in his clothes. In my opinion, I imagine Puck wearing enigmatic clothes such as a white sparkling garment with golden wings. It could also be represented in his speech. Shakespeare depicts Puck as a mischievous, amusing and popular character through his excellent choice of words. This gives a chance for the reader to empathize with the devious Puck.

Guanxi, Cultural Antecedents and Trust Building in Chinese Business Research Paper
Guanxi, Cultural Antecedents and Trust Building in Chinese Business Markets - Research Paper Example The focus in this paper is on the concept of Guanxi, central to the Chinese society. The literal translations of this term could mean 'connections' and 'relationships', but both these translated terms cannot describe the deeper meaning and implications that it actually stands for.The concept of guanxi is no longer confined to China and is accepted in the West also. Guanxi has been defined in different ways depending on the various perspectives. The Chinese construct considers guanxi as a very specific personal connection between two different people. This connection is exemplified by an inherent psychological contract that needs to be followed. The social norms include being committed, maintaining loyalty and ensuring that the relationship is maintained over a long term. Guanxi also has the key characteristics of trust for the parties involved that is developed through long term interactions, reciprocity and self-disclosure.In literal sense, guanxi means connection. When it comes to relationships, this term either refers to the connection between the parties that are involved, or to the connected parties. There are different stages of guanxi - either existent or non-existent, either good or bad, distant or close, deep or superficial and so on. Guanxi can exist between two or more individuals or even between organizations or different networks. It is also necessary to know that guanxi is function in the different spheres of human life, such as the families, friends, and professional groups, political and business. The term guanxi is used along with different verbs to give it different connotations and meanings. For example, if the phrase 'pull guanxi' is used, then it means the set of actions that indicate initiating and establishing a connection. Similarly, if the phrases ââ¬Ëwalk guanxi' would mean using the established connections to achieve any purpose that needs to be achieved.Similarly, the term has been used in other verb forms such as building, developi ng, breaking etc. According to Gold et al, (2002), guanxi can be described as part of China's national character. Over the years, Guanxi has played a very important role in the business relationships in China. If the businesses are Guanxi based, then, there would be a higher probability to reduce uncertainty, reduce the transaction costs, and lower the search costs as trusted suppliers are already known. Guanxi based business relationships also add to strong sense of connectedness (Tung and Worm, 2001). Even while dealing with foreign investors, Guanxi helps in reducing the uncertainty associated with doing business with outsiders. This is because Guanxi helps in establishing informal relationships that can guard against any opportunistic behaviour on

It will entail cloud computing where all the operation done in the business and data storage are based in the internet. The outcome of this project will enable the company to digitalize all the business operation and the security of information is enhanced because this technology provides the best information confidentiality, authenticity, accuracy and availability. The idea of any businessman or woman having to return to the office every time they needed to send an email or check the shipping status of inventory is preposterous; however not long ago it was reality. In todayââ¬â¢s age given tablet computing, which provide s reliability and accuracy to users; companies can stay on the cusp of an ever-growing competitive edge with Tablets. Another benefit for businesses is iWork, an app that allows companies to create and share documents, presentations and spreadsheets. Mission statement they claim to be ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ defining the future of mobile media and computing devices with iPad. It is this futuristic outlook that separated Apple from competitors and launched them into such endeavors as the iPad. Another benefit is the way in which the client will feel towards the business since they can get the service at the convenience of their home. This will boost the corporate image of the company since it will join the few companies that have embraced advanced information technology. Reference Dietz, J. (2009). Introduction to GPS and static positioning Essay
Introduction to GPS and static positioning - Essay Example The system was introduced by the US military but today anyone can access its services through the use of a GPS receiver (McNamara, 52). The satellite system uses a trilateration principle to determine the location of the receiver (Maini and Varsha, 428). In three dimension trilateration, the requirement for the system to generate the exact location of the receiver is a direct line of signal from at least three satellites and the distance between a receiver and the satellites (Maini and Varsha, 411). These details are obtained by the receiver from analyzing the high frequency radio signals from the satellites. This distance is derived from a calculation of the time used by the frequencies to travel from one satellite to the receiver on a location that is on earth. This measurement is only possible if the time in both the satellite and the receiver are synchronized. Otherwise the delay would not give an accurate value of the distances obtained. To synchronize the time in space and the time in the atmosphere where gravity pulls are varied requires both the receiver and the satellite to have atomic clocks. However atomic clocks are very expensive and as such, the GPS system uses an error correction method that involves the fourth satellite. From the fourth satellites transmission of signals, the inaccuracy in trilatration is appropriately adjusted (Maini and Varsha, 308). The calculation for the error adjustment by the receiver is repeated several times to make the receiver just as effective without the atomic watch for synchronization. Further errors are bound to arise in the process of calculating the distance and location of the receiver. These include the effect of delays of signals in different layers of the atmosphere. However, the speed of electromagnetic waves is not affected and travels at the same speed as that of light. In different substances, the speed is considerably reduced. These variations in the speed of the waves are

Wage Earnings in Australia Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Wage Earnings in Australia - Research Paper Example This method has made it fairer for both the employee and employer while looking for jobs and at the same time while seeking for employees with good qualifications. Australian dollar is the currency used in payment of wages. A released data analysis indicates that mining, resource and energy jobs are the most highly paid ranging averagely $155, 042, - $121,913 per hour (Survey, 2012). Engineering jobs follow secondly while construction and consulting and strategy jobs are third and fourth respectively. Amongst the least paid jobs, include the administration and office support jobs, which earn averagely $56,820-$46,278. Minimum Wages Australia has a panel for fair work Ombudsman, which came into existence in 3rd June 2010. The work of the panel is to review the minimum wage an employee should earn. The panel reviews the wages every year and makes their announcement every 1st July annually. The panel also makes their findings public on the same day by publishing them on the government w ebsites and other potential site to bring employers to task with the current rates. The fair work panel also releases a minimum wage order that requires an employee not to earn any lower than the national minimum wage. Currently, the national minimum age is $15.96 per hour (Survey O. S., 2012). If an employee is a casual laborer, he or she is entitled to 23% casual lading wage. Fair work also takes part in monitoring and evaluating employers who contravene or go against the Law. Chris Evans the senator and minister of immigration and citizenship announced that temporary skilled workers in overseas should get payment similar to those paid to market rates. People under 21 years are referred to as junior workers and their rates re usually less than adults. However, different industries and occupations have different wages depending on the types of jobs done. Classification is under casual, permanent or sub contract basis. Subcontractors are not permanent employees and therefore the law of minimum wages does not apply in their case. Subcontractors have their own jobs and work at different hours and they earn commissions depending on how they negotiate with the contractors. The law is very tough on subcontractors and their employers. Under certain circumstances, an employer might subcontract an employee and pay him/her as an employee yet he/she is working as an employee of the organization or company. The trade unions describe how penalties, rewards, and allowances are earned. Most payments are done monthly in Australia but weekly wages still apply depending on the agreement with the employer. Australian law demands that employers provide their employees with pay slips before payment is done for verification. Superannuation is a retirement benefit scheme that any wage earner should pay. Nine percent of the total wage earned is always deducted for the payment of the retirement scheme. The money aims at retirement but can also be used in cases of injuries and illness . All the States in Australia have the command and rule over the salary of their educators. Data from the latest information indicate that all salaries from the Australian capital have a nine-point range. By 2003, South Wales had the highest paid teachers in Australia. Biotechnology in healthcare Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Biotechnology in healthcare - Essay Example Consequently, doctors tend to prescribe specific drugs so as to achieve maximum personal benefits even though the prescribed drugs are of less effect. The regulatory authorities face difficulty with preventing these unethical practices since medical prescription is completely left to doctorsââ¬â¢ choice. This paper will critically explore the ethical and regulatory issues associated with marketing drugs in the United Kingdom. Drug Marketing Issues It has been identified that pharmaceutical companies spend a lot of money toward marketing their drugs in a way that their drugs would continuously get prescribed by doctors. Naturally, the company representatives exaggerate the benefits and efficacy of their products; and often doctors do not try to verify the authenticity of their argument. In fact, there are no practical ways for doctors to test the reliability of companiesââ¬â¢ claims instantly; the laboratory tests require much time and they would not provide cent percent accurat e results of the drugââ¬â¢s effectiveness. The Inverse Benefit Law focused on Hartââ¬â¢s inverse care law states that ââ¬Å"the ratio of benefits to harm among patients taking new drugs tends to vary inversely with how extensively the drugs are marketedâ⬠(wellness resources). When companies extensively market their drugs, sometimes the act gives rise to new diseases. Pre-diabetes and pre-hypertension are some best fitted examples which reveal the horrible impacts of unethical drug marketing. Reducing the verge for a disease means maximum sales for pharmaceutical companies in UK; the same happens while new diseases emerge. It is important to note that the ultimate aim of medicine is to eradicate diseases but not to create new ones. However, drug marketers encourage doctors to test the effectiveness of their products on patients. Although doctors know that certain drugsââ¬â¢ impacts may vary with age, sex, and demographic factors, they would not be willing to change th eir prescription criteria so as to preserve their personal interests. The most destructive impact of drug marketing is the practices of over dosage. Company representatives are always under pressure to meet their fixed targets; consequently, they may force doctors to prescribe drugs in large quantities. Although these over dosages may mitigate the symptoms of diseases rapidly, they have far reaching impacts on patientsââ¬â¢ health. Similarly, all misleading pharmaceutical advertisements are against the professional ethics as they negatively affect patientsââ¬â¢ medical knowledge also. Issues associated with drug marketing regulation The regulatory authorities cannot insist doctors regarding medical prescription because of two reasons; firstly, a doctor is well conversant with the physical conditions of his/her patients; secondly, he/she must have full freedom of action during the course of treatment. In real practice, it is seen that doctors misuse their freedom with intent to gain personal economic benefits. In such situations, regulators cannot identify whether a doctorââ¬â¢s prescription is genuine or not. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is responsible for excessive drug marketing prevention in UK. The MHRA 2008 reports show that the discontinuation of drugs within a shorter period of time causes severe impacts on patientââ¬â¢s health. Therefore, it is difficult to ban certain drugs even though they are found harmful. Disputes have been going on in UK even among regulation panel

Comparison and contrast essay Anchorage,Alaska and Key West Florida
Comparison and contrast Anchorage,Alaska and Key West Florida - Essay Example Perhaps. Key West, Florida and Anchorage, Alaska may be thousands of miles apart geographically and culturally, but in some ways, they are practically next door neighbors. The first striking difference between these two cities is obviously geography and climate. Key West is the westernmost island of the archipelago known as The Florida Keys. Close proximity to the Tropic of Capricorn and the warm currents of the Caribbean Sea give Key West a balmy average temperature of 82oF. Add to this an annual rainfall of nearly 40 inches per year and you have a pleasant climate capable of supporting a host of interesting vegetation while providing many hours of sunny weather to enjoy the waters surrounding the island. Of course, any city that has taken on the title of ââ¬Å"Southernmost City in Americaâ⬠had better have plenty of warm weather and sunshine to back up their claim. Anchorage, while not the northernmost city in America is a great deal different than Key West. One has no need to look beyond the raw numbers to see that two more different cities could not be found in America in regards to geography and climate. Anchorage boasts and average annual temperature of 35oF with an average annual precipitation of just 16 inches (most of it of the frozen variety)(Hoare, 2008). Though summer days can reach into the mid 70ââ¬â¢s, summer and winter weather is unpredictable in Anchorage. 40oF swings in temperature have been known to occur within the space of several hours. Anchorage enjoys long summer days due to its high latitude, but the subarctic climate surrounding the city dissuades most people from spending those summer days swimming in the frigid coastal waters nearby. An additional geographic feature that makes Anchorage much different that Key West is the nearby presence of active volcanoes. Occasional ash accumulation from these volcanoes poses a slight
